Caste Kudos

Declaring Anathema

Congratulations are in order to two of our own

On September 30, 2007 before family and friends, Dylan Barbarak (idarkseraphim) & Emilee Callaghan (ldy Emilee) shared the wine of Companionship.

The ceremony was held in the gardens of House S and M in the city of Ar. Blessings to them both and may the caste continue to be strong!

Anathema. The origin of this word meant to lift something up as an offering; later, with evolving meaning it has become to mean: 1. To be formally set apart; 2. Banished, exiled, excommunicated; 3. Denounced, sometimes accursed.

Gorean Law states that Healers are not to be threatened, attacked, collared or killed. In saying that we also keep in mind that we hold true to the Gorean custom of respect and honor and follow our codes and laws as close to the letter as possible.

If you find yourself in a position of any of the above stated, at times, you can simply remind the person committing the act that they can and or will be declared Anathema, meaning that he will be forbidden from future care of a healer as stated below.

“When a Free-Person is declared Anathema, he is forbidden care from any who wear the Green. In times of war, his bones will not be mended….in times of peace his diseases will not be treated.”

What is important for us, as healers, to remember is that it does not give us the right to insult or degrade another of High Caste or any caste. Whether or not you like someone it is up to you as a Healer to rise above it. Our first and foremost responsibility and objective is the maintenance of health for those of our Home Stone, those in close proximity to us and then to all Goreans, should we be sought out or come across someone needing us.

Mariah D. Burroc

From the Director of Admissions, Lyra Marcus

Tal! My name is Lyra Marcus. I have once again been given the honor of sitting 3rd chair to our great caste by its members. I would like to thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving you all once more.

To tell you a bit about my job, I take in and process all applications, send out logs for review and keep records of all incoming and outgoing members. We are trying our best to right the wrongs done by some of the previous chairs; but, like anything else, good things take time. I am personally impressed with the amount of changes that have taken place thus far. It’s been a month since we took office and I have seen more work started and finished since then than I have seen in a very long time. I think this caste is once again headed for bigger and better things.

I want you all to know that my door is always open for any reason. All question, comments, and advice is appreciated and if you feel the application process could be done in a better way, please get with me so we can go over your ideas. Also, if you know you anyone who was putting off applying with the caste because of previous issues, please get them to contact me. The process is a bit over a month long; but, with everything organized and rolling along it is not taking months. No one is being ignored and anyone who wishes to apply is accepted, not just a certain few.

I would like to welcome the following healers to our caste. They have completed their training and are now a part of the RGCP: Amy K Drethren & Krystal S Kalran. Welcome to the RGCP and as always, if you need anything please call on me.

The following people are now in training: Karian Daughter, Spurius Medicius, & Shelby Dakken. Anyone in training who is need of help or has any questions or concerns please contact me as well. If I do not have the answers for you, I will get them.

We also have two new Doctorates: Mariah D Burroc and myself.

Congratulations to all of us.

From the Director of Education, Emilee Callaghan

WANTED! Instructors for various classes and lecturers to share their research. Please, don’t be afraid to step up to the plate and share what you know, you might just save a life down the road. The knowledge that you share can be from role play experience or that of real life experience.

ANYTHING that will enhance play for all, generate storylines, and possibly help those in training complete their courses and earn their papers. We as a caste should always be seeking knowledge and looking for ways to improve our skills. If I don’t hear of anything soon, expect to be drafted to teach. This will continue until people start volunteering to teach. We can only benefit from the knowledge shared.

If you haven’t yet completed the census request, please do so. The information being asked for will help me to set up classes based up locality as well as let all of us know where the next available physician is if we are ever in need of help or need to send a referral. The information being asked for is simple: Name, Home Stone/Current Location, and field of specialty.

Please send the information to me (ldy emilee) or Tristram Aristos (xtristramaristos) NO LATER THAN OCTOBER 19.

If there are any that wish to submit an article or other piece to the newsletter, deadline for submission is the last Friday of every mun month. Please email me with them.

Policy Proposals

The following proposal in policy change comes from Miska Ra Forsha (miska cina). Please read below the suggested change to the registration process and send in your vote by midnight EST, OCTOBER 19, 2007. Many will note that they have seen this before from Miska and Kaen. Miska was seeking feedback at the time that it was originally sent out. NOW is the time to vote on the change.

I would like all of you to take a look at our present registration process. I feel there is a need to re-vamp it and I have included a few suggestions. The portions hi-lighted in red are the areas I believe need change. The areas in purple are the proposed changes.

Procedure for Healer Registration in the Caste:

An applicant will submit an application

All applicants will serve a mentoring/probation period of four Gorean months (four mun weeks from date of application)

During mentoring/probation period, the applicant’s mentor will submit a minimum of four (4) healing logs of the applicant. (This should include one major trauma, one dealing with medicines/herbs, one dealing with reproduction/childbirth, and one other)

The applicant will answer four open book essay style questions. Each question will be answered in length showing the applicant’s intentions on how he/she would handle each healing situation. If the opportunity for a log is presented during normal role-play, it may be submitted in lieu of one of or in addition to the questions. The essay answers may be archived as future teaching and reference tools.

The Editor offers her apologies to Cherish Dark for not including her proposals for policy changes in the newsletter at this time. A separate notice will be sent out before the next issue with her proposals and the date due for the ballots to be returned.

Please copy and paste into an email with your vote and send to the following link. Ballots are due back no later than midnight EST, October 19, 2007:

Ballot for Policy Change

______ In favor of the proposed change to the registration process .

______ Not in favor of the proposed change to the registration process.
